MedCircular was co-founded by Joe Storm and Søren Hedegaard. Joe’s experience in sustainability leadership and Søren’s expertise in biotech and platform development for streamlined logistics brought them together to research reuse and recycling solutions for waste generated by Denmark’s public hospitals. They discovered that decommissioned medical equipment was routinely collected by e-waste recyclers or gathering dust in long-term storage, with very few non-profit organizations in Scandinavia or Europe dedicated to recirculating it on a large scale, unlike in the US.
In response, MedCircular was established as a collaborative, non-profit organization rooted in the circular economy. We sustainably extend the lifecycle of medical equipment by prioritizing its redistribution to partners best positioned to repair, maintain, and eventually recycle these devices—including qualified partners providing healthcare in underserved regions.
MedCircular operates through a network of collaborators, including public hospitals, healthcare providers, biomedical engineers, logistics experts, and accredited U.S.-based non-profits. We are committed to developing an efficient, sustainable, centralized system for recirculating surplus medical supplies recovered from Denmark and neighbouring countries.

Operating from Denmark, MedCircular provides sustainable humanitarian solutions focused on surplus and decommissioned medical equipment and supplies. Our core mission is to efficiently extend the lifecycle of these vital resources. We achieve this by prioritizing their redistribution to partners best positioned to repair, maintain, and eventually recycle the devices, particularly qualified organizations providing healthcare in underserved regions globally.

We collect donations of surplus medical equipment and supplies primarily from public hospitals and other healthcare providers across Denmark and neighboring countries. Every collected item undergoes expert processing. This includes professional data wiping and refurbishment overseen by biomedical engineers, who also conduct rigorous quality control checks to ensure all equipment is fully functional and safe for reuse.
We work within a dedicated circle of partners, including biomedical engineers and established U.S.-based non-profits. This collaboration allows us to carefully assess the specific needs of vetted recipient partners internationally. We then strategically match the recovered equipment and supplies to meet those needs, ensuring the most suitable and sustainable pathway. Through this circular framework, we extend the lifespan of vital medical resources, helping them consistently deliver high-quality humanitarian healthcare.
